The August 2007 Direct3D 10.1 Tech Preview requires the Windows Vista SP1 Beta

Looks like Vista SP1 Beta is not that far off.
Why else would MSFT release a 10.1 Tech Preview that can't be used without Vista SP1?

VS2008 Beta 2 readme:
QUOTE
2.1.6 .Net Framework 3.5 has mismatched versions when installed on Windows Vista SP1 Beta

When Orcas is installed on a Windows Vista SP1 Beta platform, the .Net Framework has mismatched versions. This causes random failures in the product.

To resolve this issue:
No workaround is available.

Also in the download it says they're updating the DirectX runtimes and SDK 4 times a year instead of bi-monthly.

And beta testers and anyone who gets it after the first guy leaks it. Just being msdn doesnt mean everyone isnt going to have it.

Just like in the old days when the CTPs had to match the the build of windows and you couldnt install a newer CTP on an older build. Ch9 had a huge thing on their site a few years ago called CTP madness were it sorted out which CTP worked on which build, etc.

So this proves .net 3.5 is coming for sp1 biggrin.gif
